I made bread today.
It was a bit of a cheat since it was Irish soda bread (which doesn’t require yeast or all that kneading) but it’s still considered bread so it counts! It was from the Barefoot Contessa at Home cookbook. The orange zest and dried currants add a little sweetness and fun. It turned out really good and we enjoyed it for a light supper slathered with butter alongside grapes and aged cheddar. Our shared plates are pictured below:
I had made cake-type breads before: banana bread, zucchini bread, etc. but never anything like this. Recipe can be found here.
Very yummy!

I often “make bread” but I cheat on some… I use a bread maker for yeast breads because after years of trying they never really turned out. I love the smell of fresh bread.
My favorite yeast bread to make is focaccia. I love adding different ingredients to change it up. Calmata olives, garlic, rosemary… not always in the same recipe. I only half cheat with focaccia since the bread machine only mixes the dough, I still have to complete the process.
I make a killer banana bread (so I’ve been told).
I love focaccia as well but I’ve never made it. There are so many flavour combinations – I may just give it a go!
I konw what you mean – the smell of fresh bread is intoxicating.
Wow, that bread looks delish. I am saving the recipe.
