Back in December 2009 a ‘news story’ emerged about a man putting up an unusual Christmas decoration. According to the report, he was asked to take it down because the decorations were scaring people who were passing by, and included several attempts to rescue the ‘man in distress’ and potentially causing car accidents.
The decorations consisted of a man and a string of lights hanging from the gutter of a house as well as a ladder which appears to have fallen away. According to the homeowner, many passerby were driving up to the house, pulling up the ladder, and climbing up, only to realize the man wasn’t real. Finally the police advised him to take the decorations down in order to avoid traffic accidents.
From what I have read, the origin of the ‘news story’ is uncertain, but it has made the rounds of several blogs and web sites. The story has not been confirmed to be a real news item and might have simply been created as a ‘viral picture’.
