I’ve actually performed 3 random acts of kindness to date – my target is ten. See the source of this inspiration in this post.
Random Act of Kindness #1:
I went to work on a weekend and placed a candy cane and RAOK card (sample above) on each employee’s desk so they’d have a tasty surprise on Monday morning. 🙂 Perfect for a little holiday spirit!
Random Act of Kindness #2:
Our pop machine at work charges 25 cents per drink, so I taped 4 quarters to the machine with a note to “Enjoy! Take One!” and some RAOK cards.
Then I decided to branch out of my workplace… 🙂
Random Act of Kindness #3:
This evening on the way back from work, I stopped at the McD’s drive-thru and decided to strike! I told the cashier what I wanted to do – pay for the order for the car behind me, I handed her the cash and a card so she could give it to the driver behind. As luck would have it, my order was delayed so I pulled up to the extra window to wait. The lady passenger in the car behind me came over and knocked on my passenger window and she was so sweet – thanking me and she kept saying “Wow!” lol I explained what it was and encouraged her to pay it forward!) As they drove off, the husband who was driving thanked me as well. 🙂 Big smiles all around. Even the cashier was smiling!
I felt really good. 🙂
Since I read that blog post, I’ve been consciously being nice to people and looking for opportunities to be kind – letting people pass in front of me, holding doors open, holding the elevator, saying thank you or other kind words instead of just thinking them.
Yay for being kind!!
