In the spirit of the Olympics, here’s an old post. Every time there’s an Olympics going on, it takes me back to when we were kids and hosted our own… 🙂
Yet another fond summer memory.
One summer when we were kids, we held our very own Olympics.
There were various events:
Marathon: Involved running a set number of laps around the island (Ile Bigras, right outside of Montreal/Laval).
Sprint: Short distance running.
Gymnastics: Best cartwheel, best roundoff, I think handstands were involved….
Diving: We had a pool.
Synchronized swimming: This was done in pairs and involved inflatable balls. It was a very avant-garde type of synchronized swimming. With props.
Swimming: Involved sprinting laps in the pool and a lot of splashing.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I seem to remember a “longest you can hold your breath underwater” event but not sure if that was part of the Olympics or just some form of older sister torture.
The parents were the judges.
The prizes in each event were 1st place $0.25, second…
