So, looking back at this post¬†from the beginning of the season, I had the finalists nailed. I’m still a big fan of Phillip. I still like Joshua, Jessica and Skylar. I think Hollie might be the next to go – she seems a bit inconsistent.

At this point, I don’t know who will make it to the final – I’d love to see Phillip make it but with powerhouses like Jessica and Joshua, that might be hard to achieve. But then looking back on past winners, there hasn’t a country winner in a while so Skylar might have a good chance too.

Just a few weeks to go!

Is it just me…or do these two look alike?

As usual, I’ve been watching American Idol this season and I have my standout favourites all picked out. ūüôā I’m a HUGE fan of Phillip Phillips (love the name). He’s such a great original artist that does his own thing and means what he does every time he performs. Love it.

Jessica Sanchez is a vocal phenomenon – good on her. We need more of those – people who can actually sing.

I also like Skylar aka “Little Reba” – she’s such a firecracker.

Joshua rocked it last week – looking forward to more from him.

I like Hollie – great voice and she looks so innocent and then she belts it out like a pro.

Midrange: Elise (she seems to have some attitude but we’ll see – could be nerves), Colton (meh), Erika (I think she can do better than she’s done so far – waiting for it to happen – love her new look).

Not a big fan of: Deandre (yawn), Heejun.

Oh – and something my sister said rang true about the gentle giant. They probably only brought him back because they knew about his law troubles so they could get ratings during the live show… Predictable. Yawn.¬† But really – if you’ve had past troubles with the law with outstanding issues – is starring on a popular national TV show really the best place for you?

I’m rooting for Phillip for the win!! ūüôā

I just can’t help it.

It started up again this year, and of course, there I am, watching the audition shows, like every other year. Yes, Simon, Paula and Kara are now gone. Replaced with Steven Tyler and J-Lo. Randy is still there.

And I’m actually liking the new judges. Steven brings lots of musicality to the show which has been very entertaining to watch. I’ve always been a J-Lo fan so I’m glad she’s there too. And Randy has always been reliable and can be trusted to “keep it real”.

So, I’m OK with the judges.

And I already have a few favourite contestants too… Like that last guy Chris Medina¬†from last night’s episode with the fianc√©e who, 2 months before they get married has a terrible car crash and suffers severe brain damage and he stays by her when she needs him most. Then he sings Breakeven by The Script. OF COURSE I WAS BAWLING BY THE END OF THAT… They can’t just spring these things on me without any preparation… Just sayin’.

You go Chris Medina.

Lyrics below:

I’m still alive but I’m barely breathing
Just prayed to a God that I don’t believe in
‘Cause I got time while she got freedom
‘Cause when a heart breaks, no it don’t breakeven

Her best days will be some of my worst
She finally met a man that’s gonna put her first
While I’m wide awake she’s no trouble sleeping
‘Cause when a heart breaks, no¬†it don’t breakeven, even, no

What am I suppose to do
When the best part of me was always you and
What am I suppose to say
When I’m all choked up and you’re okay

I’m falling to pieces, yeah
I’m falling to pieces

They say bad things happen for a reason
But no wise words gonna stop the bleeding
‘Cause she’s moved on while I’m still grieving
And when a heart breaks, no¬†it don’t breakeven, even, no

What am I gonna do
When the best part of me was always you
And what am I suppose to say
When I’m all choked up and you’re okay

I’m falling to pieces, yeah
I’m falling to pieces, yeah
I’m falling to pieces
(One’s still in love while the other one’s leaving)
I’m falling to pieces
(‘Cause when a heart breaks, no it don’t breakeven)

You got his heart and my heart and none of the pain
You took your suitcase, I took the blame
Now I’m tryna make sense of what little remains, oh
‘Cause you left me with no love and no love to my name

I’m still alive but I’m barely breathing
Just prayed to a God that I don’t believe in
‘Cause I got time while she got freedom
‘Cause when a heart breaks, no it don’t break
No it don’t break, no it don’t breakeven, no

What am I gonna do
When the best part of me was always you
And what am I supposed to say
When I’m all choked up and you’re okay

I’m falling to pieces, yeah
I’m falling to pieces, yeah
I’m falling to pieces
(One’s still in love while the other one’s leaving)
I’m falling to pieces
(‘Cause when a heart breaks, no it don’t break even)

Oh, it don’t breakeven, no
Oh, it don’t breakeven, no
Oh, it don’t breakeven, no

So this week on Idol, Adam Lambert was the mentor. It was Elvis week. On Tuesday, each contestant got one-on-one time with Adam and he actually had some good advice to give the idols. Some performances were really good.

Like Crystal:

She’s been the most consistent throughout the competition so far.

Most others were mediocre. I gotta say, I haven’t been very impressed with anyone else. I like Michael but he has consistency issues. I think they’re both great singers and would like to see them in the finals. They could sing “I got you babe”. Crystal could bring her carpet… It’ll be magical. For true.

Wednesday was the boot-out show and since the judges used the save last week (on Michael), two idols were leaving tonight.

Then Adam performed and he did awesome. The lights, the effects, the song, the performance.

So it’s official.

I declare Adam Lambert the winner of Season 9.
